5 Suspenseful, Twisted Stars!!
M.M. Koenig.... You are on my list... After finishing that book you left me in a murderous rage! I bit my fingernails down so low they are actually throbbing! I FRIGGEN LOVED THIS BOOK!!!
Okay, so Complicated picked up exactly where Conflicted left off... And let me just say Complicated could not be a better name for this book. Everything about Mia and Ethan's life and relationship is complicated. Since this is the second book in this series I am going to assume you already know how these two came to be in each other's lives so no need to back track. Right so moving on. Now they need to figure out two things...1. If they are going to be able to move forward- like in a honest, trusting relationship. (Which seems easy enough but come on....This is Mia and Ethan we are talking about..) and 2. How the hell are they supposed to get out of the situation they are in without any further backlash? Well my fellow readers, sit back & hold on because M.M. Koenig is about to take you on a crazy ride.
So, for anyone who has read any of my reviews they know that I really try my best to give nothing about the actual story away but give my honest to God opinion of my experience with the book. Sometimes my thoughts come through as half sentences and emotional outbursts but that is only because it is what I was experiencing when I was reading. I take notes through the entire book. I highlight things that jump out at me and scribble down things that make me laugh, cry or throw my kindle. I originally posted a screen shot of my notebook but didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea. This book is amazing. Fair warning it is a bit longer a does start with a slow build but when it hits it's peak there is no turning back. There were so many times I thought that there were things that the author maybe could have left out to shorten the book but then would read a scene later on and understood why she added it. The way she intertwined the characters and their pasts really amazed me. BRILLIANCE! Seriously, that is the only way I could describe it. It was pure suspense. Well, suspense and sizzling hot sex. **Ladies, get your fans because you will most definitely need something to cool you off!!**
I am going to be completely honest... I stopped with 20% left in the book and thought to myself "Self, this book is either going to have a really disappointing ending or I am in for the Mother of all Cliffhangers..." I mean, there were so many revelations, like MAJOR revelations, about Mia's past, about Micah's disappearance, about Ethan that I just couldn't see it all being answered in the 34 minutes my kindle said what left in the book. So I did what any sane person would do at 12:30 am. I reached out to M.M. because I just had to know before I went a sentence further. See, I do not ever read reviews on books I am going to read because I am scared to death I will stumble upon a spoiler and well, that is like seeing your Christmas presents before Christmas. I know what you're all thinking..."you could have just kept reading and figured it out for yourself"... but when you read the book you will understand why I needed to know right then and there what I was coming up on.
(Man, sometimes writing reviews for books I really love and want to talk about is so damn hard!!!)
Anyway, yes, cliffhanger.. A HUGE Cliffhanger that is going to leave you feeling angry, used, alone, empty, broken and all of those other adjectives along those lines. But M.M. Koenig showed us all a bit of compassion with her Epilogue. The story may leave your heart ripped open and bleeding but the Epilogue acts as the tourniquet you need until the next book is published.
M.M.-- Seriously, This book. Actually, this series. I LOVE. Truly. The characters. Mia, Ethan, Bri, Her Boys, His Boys. There is just so much much good that found its way out of that twisted brain of yours. You left me wrecked, like a serious ball of emotion, unable to form complete thoughts. Through the laughing, nail biting and ugly crying it was your words that made me fall in love with this story and these amazing characters. I am cheering for Mia and Ethan. I hope love prevails!! Thank you for another amazing ride!!
