Blog Tour - - Gage by Tess Oliver

SYNOPSIS:

Gage is part of the Barringer Brothers series but can be
read as a standalone.

After nearly losing his friend in a logging accident, Gage
Barringer is convinced now more than ever that he needs to find a different
job. But his side business of breaking colts at the small Montana ranch he
inherited from his grandfather doesn't earn him enough money. He has his mind
set on running The Raven's Nest, a popular bar and restaurant near his ranch.
The original owner has died and Gage is waiting for it to be put up for sale.
But there is a five-foot-four, brown eyed, obstacle in his way, an obstacle
with lips made for sin and a voice made for breaking hearts. And Summer Donovan
is one road block Gage Barringer won't be able to find a way around.

EXCERPT:

He looked at me a long moment.
"I want you so fucking bad, Summer, it hurts." He combed his long
hair back with his fingers and chuckled at some inside joke. "You have no
idea how bad."

            "Then what's holding you back?
It seems to me--"

            He shook his head. "Can't
explain it to myself." His dark lashes dropped as he stared down at the
floor, and when he lifted his face to me, I realized that I was falling hard
for him.

            "I guess I don't want to scare
you off." He shook his head. "Not that I'm scary in bed," he
quickly amended. "I don't want to come on too strong. Hell, I guess I'm
just trying to make a good impression."

            "Stop with the good impression
shit. I want a lasting impression, Gage."

His pale blue eyes flickered in the
light as he looked at me. "I can do lasting." He crossed the room in
two steps. His arms curled around my back, and he pulled me against him. His
mouth covered mine. The kiss was long and hard and driven by that intense
longing that had been building up between us. He took hold of my good hand and
walked me down the short hall to my bedroom. He pushed open the door with his
boot and led me inside.

4.5 stars

I have been eagerly awaiting Gage by Tess Oliver since I read The Rain Shadow series and discovered my love for the oldest Barringer brother and for the author's talent! Now Gage is a stand alone and you don't have to read the Rain Shadow series but I recommend it just because it is an amazing series. I managed to wait somewhat patiently to get my hands on a copy of Gage and it was well worth it to read about the sexy pine scented logging man. He's a man's man and I LOVED it, and normally I don't give much attention to book covers but this one had me drooling.

I love Gage, he is hard working, sexy and an all around good man who is willing to come to the aide of anyone who might need him. He's just my kind of guy and he's aggressive yet attentive in bed, um yes please! He is just pure perfection in the shape of a grizzly sized man. I was thrilled to meet Summer's character, I think she was just an absolutely perfect match for Gage, sweet, gorgeous, talented, determined and feisty. She was strong too, strong enough to pick up, leave behind everyone she knew and start over far from home. Her scene with the record label boss and secretary was just absolutely perfect, the kind that left me thinking "you go girl!". As the relationship developed between the two of them there were plenty of scorching hot moments mixed up with laugh out loud scenes. I adore everything about this two amazing characters and the secondary characters were great too. I loved the friendships Summer developed with the employees at the restaurant. We also got a little more of Seth and Jericho who we met in The Rain Shadow books. I loved their teasing of Gage after he got gobsmacked by Summer, every character Tess Oliver creates is just terrific and easy to love.

I enjoyed every minute of this book, I hardly put it down for even a second to eat or move from my chair! I enjoyed that it was a mostly light read, no heavy angsty turmoil although there are some issues of course. It wouldn't be a good story if there wasn't at least a little drama! The only thing that kept this from being 5 stars was the ending, while it wasn't a cliff hanger or anything it left me hanging just a little bit. I would have liked more of a conclusion especially about the aftermath of some of the choices that were made right at the end. Even a short epilogue would have wrapped things up a little bit better for me, then again maybe Seth will get his own book and we'll find out what happened where this one left off, I'm hoping so anyway. I'm definitely a huge Tess Oliver fan and can't wait to see what she comes out with next!
