“I think right now the one thing you need to do is sleep, darlin’.” He nuzzled her neck, pressing his lips where it curved into her shoulder. “It’s late and you never look like you sleep as well as you should. Tomorrow is soon enough for you to worry about how somebody else’s tragedy has to ruin your life.”

“It’s already ruined mine.” Slowly, she turned around and lifted her hands, curling them in the soft, worn material of his shirt, pressing her head against his chest. The smell of him flooded her head. Warm man, something spicy—the soap he wore or aftershave—she liked it. Rubbing her cheek against him, she murmured, “It’s ruined my life for years and I’m tired of it. I don’t want to let it ruin my life anymore. That’s why I’m trying to figure out what to do next.”

“I already told you. Sleep.” He rubbed his lips against hers and then said quietly, a thread of steel in his voice, “Tomorrow, we find answers. For now, though…”

He slid his hands down her back, cupped them around her hips. He boosted her up and when she twined her legs around him, it was a sweet, sweet bliss. “Maybe the answer to that is think about you. You’ve lived your life day by day, always thinking about keeping your secrets. We need to figure out how you can reclaim your life, but you can’t do that in the dead of night. So for now…think about you. What you need.”

I can’t breath. He’s literally stealing the breath from me as his fingers tighten around my throat, his body pinning me down. His hand squeezes harder. My heart accelerates to a dangerous level, feeling as if it will burst from my chest, but I refuse to give up. I can’t. It would mean he wins. With all the strength I have left, I keep trying to push his body off. My hands claw at his face and somehow I manage to gouge his eyes with my fingernails. With a wail, he rises off my body and loosens his grip around my neck.



With all my might, I swing my arm up and my fist makes contact with his face; it shocks him momentarily, allowing me to push him off enough to wiggle my way from under him. I’m still breathless, barely able to move, but my only thought is escape.



“Get back here, you bitch!” he shouts as he grabs onto my ankle, my body pulled to a stop. Turning around, I kick him with my other foot and manage to break free once more.

I don’t have the strength yet to stand up, but I manage to frantically crawl from his grasp to keep him from pulling me down again. My fear and determination is what keeps me moving. Sucking in a deep breath of air, I force myself up to my feet and start to run.



I’m running for my life at this point. My feet are moving on instinct, doing what they know best as they attempt to put distance between us. I can hear him chasing me; his panting breaths mere steps behind me, but I keep running, never looking back.



“You think you can get away from me, Abigail?”

His words fuel my fear, causing my legs to pump harder and my body to move faster, the air swooshing by me, the world passing in a blur. I know he’s no longer behind me, but I can still hear his panicked shouts.

Colin rose, walked over to Amelia and grasped her by the elbow to lead her to the looking glass. “You do not properly see yourself, Amelia,” he said staring at her.

Facade is a novel by Ker Dukey and D.H. Sidebottom and it is one hell of a dark and twisted story! I don't even know how to categorize it, its dark, erotic, suspenseful and quite a mystery. The story started off with a bang and only got better with each passing chapter. The entire time I was reading I felt like my mind was racing while trying to figure out what the heck was going on, I knew something crazy was coming but each twist was more shocking than the last. The entire book was a complete and total mind f*ck! 

Since we do spoiler free reviews I really can't say, well, anything really about this book. Any reference to the plot could destroy the incredible experience of reading this brilliant and unique story! I will tell you that it is detailed, full of twists and turns, completely original and exceeded all my expectations. This is the kind of book where things are revealed and you can't help but just go "shut up, that did not just happen" over and over again. Several times I put my kindle down and just stared at it for a few minutes before I picked it back up and went back to devouring this crazy book. 

Star was an amazing character in a horrible situation but one thing I really liked about her was that she kept fighting. She knew something wasn't right and questioned everything even though she knew it was dangerous. Dante was an evil, horrible man who tried really hard to pretend he was good but Star wasn't stupid, she had to depend on him but she didn't blindly believe him. She may have had no memories but she knew in her soul that the things he was telling her couldn't be true. Even with no memories she had a sense of who she was. When her memories started to come back things got even more twisted and confusing but then the ending was just..wow! It was worse than I had even considered, it was a total sick twist and one heck of a cliff hanger. I seriously can't wait for the next one, I'll be counting down the minutes until it is released! The authors must be some kind of evil, twisted geniuses to come up with this incredible plot and I can't wait to read more.

I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters. I wanted to be an actress growing up so I could live many roles but I learned early on that my mind was too active... I would want to change the script.I would watch films and think of ways they could of improved the story if they took another direction so i thought it best that i tell my own.

My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light, some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.

When I'm not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I'm a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.
