Shattered Lives by Alexis Noelle... Let me first start off by saying job well done!!!
I could not have dreamed up a better ending for Jessie and Dam..er, Nick!!
So, Alexis picked up where she left us...with a heartbroken Jessie, grieving a loss that is almost unbearable. I mean, it was hard to even read. Alexis made sure that every emotion Jessie was feeling was felt by the readers. My heart broke with hers. I wanted to cry with her. But then something happens...Something HUGE....and the story twists in a way that made me happy and mad and really friggen scared all at the same time.
I won't say anymore about the plot but I want to tell you more about how amazing Alexis Noelle is when it comes to bringing her characters to life. I love Jessie and Nick (Or Damon or whatever the hell I am supposed to call him) and Lo... I just love her... That scene in the mall with the fountain... Bahahahahah.... Her character development is on point!! She took us on a crazy ride with these characters and you couldn't help but fall in love with each one.
The plot of this series was also well thought out. I love that the bad guys were Philadelphia based (Philly Represent!! :)) and they were ruthless... Where this installment vastly differs from Shattered Innocence, I think Alexis stayed true to her style... (And boy, do I love her style.) Shattered Lives was just suspenseful enough, just sexy enough and just heartbreaking enough to give the reader a well rounded story.
The ending....well, it was tough for me.... and once you read it you will see why but I think it was the perfect way to give Jessie and Nick the HEA they so desperately wanted. I rooted for them, even when I wasn't sure if Nick was the best choice for Jessie's sanity. Their love was magnetic and we all know that love like that doesn't come around very often.
I think I should add that since Shattered Innocence should be read before Shattered Lives so you fully understand the plot line. I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on the pure awesomeness of Jessie and Nick's love story... Thank you for a great series Alexis. You rock!!
